PAINTBALL & LASER TAG FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

General Paintball Questions:

Q: Is paintballing safe?

A: At Mega Paintball your safety is our number one priority. We have a 100% safety record in the 12 years we have been operating which is testimony to our high safety standards. As with all activities the risk of injuries does exist but with our robust safety protocols and exceptional quality of staff you will not have a safer paintball experience. All our equipment is CE approved for paintballing as in accordance with our insurance. We carry out regular risks assessments and have £10 million public liability insurance (both documents can be downloaded from the bottom of the page).

Q: What qualifications do your staff hold?

A: All our marshals are first aid trained and enhanced DBS checked to work with children and venerable adults. Our “M-Tech” training program has produced some of the finest most competent paintball marshals in the United Kingdom. Safety is paramount to us and to ensure this and the enjoyment of others, all players must act upon all reasonable requests made by our marshals.

Q: Does Paintballing hurt?

A: Being hit with a Paintball can sting a little and leave a bruise. However, with the surging adrenaline and the thrill of the game any pain felt will be overshadowed and quickly short lived. We run paintball events for girl grammar schools for ages 12 – 16 years and they come back yearly so it really isn’t something to fear. We offer the use of chest protectors for the ladies and kids. Read our “Does Paintball Hurt” article.

Q: What should I wear to play?

A: We recommend loose fitting clothing or sports wear for your paintballing session. You will be issued with a set of coveralls which will help keep most of the dirt and paint from leaking through to your clothes. Sturdy footwear like boots with good ankle support should ideally be worn, flip flops, sandals and high heals are a not permissible for use at our site. It is advisable to bring a spare change of clothes for after the session and bin bags for muddy boots. Please do not bring jewellery as it could easily get lost in the game zones and cause personal injury if it gets snagged. During the winter months warm kit should be brought with you. Check out our in-depth blog about what to wear for paintball.

Q: Will I need more paintballs?

A: It all depends on what playing style you adopt and what package you initially choose. Consider that the average paintball usage per game is around 150 paintballs. Most people use 400 – 600 Paintballs in a half day and 800 – 1000 in a full day. Extra Paintballs are sold at £8 per 100 on the day.

Q: Can I bring my own Paintballs?

A: No, due to insurance requirements we can only use approved traceable paintballs supplied directly to us from a reputable manufacture. Only paintballs purchased from Mega Paintball may be used.

Q: What time should we arrive on the day?

A: The day starts at 9am for a full day and 12pm for half day, please click here for a detailed breakdown of an average paintball day.

Q: Can the stag attend in fancy dress?

A: Yes, the stag can wear fancy dress although we do ask for it to be reasonably tasteful so as not to cause offense to other groups on site. You can also take advantage of our “stich up the stag” service were you can hire a “Captain America” costume for the stag to wear.

Kids Paintball Questions:

Q: How old do you have to be to play?

A: The minimum age for our Splatmaster Paintball sessions is 8 Years and 11 Years for our youth kids paintballing sessions using our low impact .50 caliber Markers.

For children who want to join adult sessions using our .68 caliber FT12 markers the minimum age is set at 11 Years as per our insurance stipulations but just be aware that adult paintball hurts a lot more than the two above.

Q: Do kids play with adults?

A: We always try our best to keep kids together at our paintball centre but this is not always possible due to the variety of groups who turn up.  We do however evaluate each group who arrives on the day so you can rest easy knowing that whatever group your child plays with they will have been carefully selected by our marshals. Most of the time we find that kids who join adult groups have a great time as the adults who are playing often have kids themselves!

Q: Is there a place for parents to wait?

A: Yes, parents are more than welcome to chill out on the benches in our base camp area. Take in nature, read a book and relax knowing that your child is out having a blast of a time.

Q: Should parents stay on site during kids paintball parties?

A: Parents are more than welcomed to stay for the duration of the party in our base camp area, you can always chill with a book and a cuppa on our benches. Alternatively, you can take advantage of being kid free to get those jobs done or grab a coffee and some lunch in Dorchester which is just 5 mins away! Rest easy knowing that your children are in safe hands with our competent staff.

Q: Can I bring a Birthday Cake?

A: Of course, no birthday would be complete without a birthday cake. Just make sure you keep it away from the marshals!

Q: Do we need to fill out a Youth registration form?

A: Yes, all under 16 players must have a youth disclaimer filled out with the help of a parent or guardian. You must both carefully read the form as it is a legal document with important safety rules which you are agreeing to abide by. Both the under 16 player and parent or guardian must sign their section of the form, incomplete forms will not be accepted.

Laser Tag Questions:

Q: What is Laser Tag?

Outdoor Laser Tag is a highly immersive game experience using laser guns call “taggers” which fire harmless infrared beams up to 200 meters. Each player is armed with a tagger and a head band with 3 sensors, when the sensors are hit a certain number of times the player will be eliminated from the game. It involves many exciting woodland game scenarios such as capture the flag, domination, and king of the hill.

Q: How does it differ from Paintball?

Laser tag is a pain free alterative to paintball using inferred beams instead of paintballs. Infrared beams are completely harmless meaning that everyone can play without the fear of bruising which is associated with paintballing. There is also the relief of not having to wear a full-face mask which often fogs when playing paintball impeding game enjoyment. Unlike paintball the laser tag equipment has pinpoint accuracy and being all electronic there can be no cheating.

Q: What’s the Minimum age?

Our minimum age for laser tag starts at 7 years of age.

Q: Who can play Laser Tag?

Laser is enjoyed by all ages and is now one of the most popular choices for children’s parties. Stag and hen parties also enjoy our laser tag sessions due to the flexibility of the equipment with the advantages it has over paintball. Young or old we guarantee you’ll have a great laser tag experience.

Q: Are there any safety issues with using lasers?

None at all, they don’t actually fire a real laser but a harmless infrared beam like the one in your T.V remote, there are no known associated risks with Laser Tag. Your session will be fully supervised by our highly experienced staff.

Q: So… why is it called Laser Tag?

To simply put it Laser Tag sounds much cooler than LED tag, so Laser Tag is now used as a generic term for any sport which uses an infra-red beam to tag another player.

Q: How much does Laser Tag cost?

Each 2-hour session costs £25 per head and includes hire of all equipment (tagger, sensors, headband, and camo hat).

Q: Are there any hidden costs?

There are no hidden costs, all our equipment is set to unlimited ammo so you can blast away and not worry about extra costs. The only extra costs on the day would be for any tuck shop purchases or glove hire.

Q: What should I wear?

We recommend comfortable clothing and sturdy footwear to prevent any ankle sprains, if your session is during the winter season then ensure you have warm clothing for afterwards. Gloves are also a good idea in case of any trips, we do provide glove hire if required. You will be playing in a woodland environment so it’s also advisable to bring a spare set of footwear to avoid a muddy car on the way back home.

Q: What happens on arrival?

Each player will be required to sign a disclaimer and will then be given a safety brief covering all aspects of the game and correct operation of the equipment. Players under 16 must have their consent form counter signed by an adult. Once the safety brief has been concluded teams will be formed and the games will commence.
